Hello there! Changed my blog song again... Because I get feedbacks like 'Gosh... Your song is spooky', stuff like that... So there you go, Dvorak's American Quartet!
Right, I'm gonna introduce this quartet... *show off*! haha... Ok... Here goes. Dvorak is a composer from the Czech Republic, and from the Romantic era... So, he went to America, (many composers during and after his time went too, e.g., Rachmaninov, etc)... So what happened was, he wanted to write 2 works, possibly for America, and one being this American Quartet, and the other, a new National Anthem. The latter, of course, was not received positively, so he kinda dropped it, and went back to his homeland where he felt more home... (duh)... So yeah, that's why American Quartet... Well, there're a handful of works named after cities, or places... for example, Mozart's 'Paris' Symphony, Haydn's 'Oxford' Symphony, etc... Speaking of Haydn's 'Oxford' Symphony, I only got clear of it recently. Well, on his 2nd visit, or was it his first? Can't remember, anyway, on whichever visit to London (he only made 2 trips to London), he went to Oxford University to obtain his Doctorate in Music. The 'Oxford' Symphony was performed during that visit, for the first time in London. The symphony, however, was not written specially for this event, it was already written, and was dedicated to a king of I-can't-remember-which-country. So, not all of such works are because of that particular place... Interesting huh? say yes... *innocent look* haha...
